Cycling for fitness this summer? There’s an App for that!

Whether you’re an avid cyclist, or have just picked up the habit to lose a bit of belly for your bikini, the LiveRider Kit from New Potato Tech will be of interest to you. It turns your bike from a plain old Raleigh into a fitness machine!

So whats in the box? Well, first of all you get a shock absorbing mount for your handle bars so that you can keep an eye on your stats on either an iPod Touch or an iPhone. Then you have the frame mounted wireless sensor which beams your vitals back to the gadget. And finally the all important LiveRider app.  This stores and records all your cycling data – including tracking your route via GPS, time taken and the speed you’re going at – and makes it all available at a glance on a simple user interface. You can keep a track of how many calories your burning for the waist line trimmers, and for those of you hoping to enter the next Tour De France, there’s a Chase Rider mode which lets you compete against your best times. You can even save all the data to a spreadsheet on your computer and track your progress graphically.

Sound good? Head over to the New Potato Technologies website for more info.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
