When mobile phone's became common place 15 years ago, Nokia, was king, everyone was playing Snakes, and everyone had a 5110 with a funky looking cover, ten years later and the Finnish company is still trying to find its feet with new fangled smart phones from America that are now top dog.

This week Nokia are planning to thank their loyal customers by having a bumper giveaway on its Ovi Store with 6 of their music apps being given away for free. Everything from Rhinanna's personal app to a nifty Guitar Tuners - so we thought we give you a heads-up.

Now Rihanna's app is probably going to fly of the virtual shelves, if you're a girl age between 12-20 and are a fan of the RnB sensation Rihanna your going to want to grab here app – featuring all the latest news, tour details, photos, music and videos. It's a must if you like your umbrella.

Spotify is next up for the free treatment and we love it. It's a music streaming service that lets you play millions upon millions of songs over a 3G or Wi-Fi connection, straight from your handset.

You can build playlists or just browse their ever-expanding musical catalogue for something to listen too. Sure, Spotify requires a premium subscription to get the most out of it, but once you sign up you’ll never look back.

The next gift comes in the form of a nifty guitar tuner and is a must if you want to be the new Slash, it's able to detect pitch and with support for multiple tunings, this free Guitar Tuner could save you from bombing on stage.

Ever heard a song and not been able to remember it's name well that will become a thing of the past with your Nokia as they are giving away Shazam for free. This app can identify music anywhere: from TV, radio, or in crowded bar.

Nialler9 music blog is next to get the free treatment - it's a popular music blog based in Ireland, its squeezed all their latest updates onto your mobile, and it's free.

And finally if that wasn't good enough you can get your virtual hands on the Absolute Radio Player too, the app lets you stream music from both Absolute Radio UK station and Absolute Classic Rock. It also offers up free downloads from the like of Coldplay, Kings of Leon, U2, and The Killers.

  • Funny, you guys aren’t the only site with this story, yet it still seems to be charged at £4 on Ovi. Am I missing something?
