Earlier today we reported that Comex and company had released the long-awaited jailbreak to the iPhone 4 since the US had made Jailbreaking legal.
Now we are hearing that an iPhone 4 unlock (also legal) is on its way very soon. The rumour comes from a tweet which said 'the unlock ‘is in private beta' at the moment and will ‘follow the Jailbreak within 48 hours of its release’. So with the Jailbreak being released this morning if the hackers are true to their word we will see an unlock tool within the next two days.
iOS 4.1 should be released in a few weeks time which may affect these jailbreaks and unlocks (which go up to 4.0.) but it is generally assumed that a jailbreak and unlock for 4.1 will be produced and released as soon as a final version of the updated OS is released.
All being well, by the end of the week your iPhone 4 should be usable across networks if you purchased a locked version.
Have you got a locked iPhone? Will you be taking advantage of this legal unlock tool to free your handset? Leave a comment below…
