Nintendo Talk About 3DS Release Date

The exciting 3DS which will be the first console to play games in 3D without the need for special glasses had an official UK launch in central London. But Nintendo bosses were giving little away.

Prototypes were on display but security remained tight when it came to filming the console with the media being denied permission to film or take photographs of the screen whilst the machine was switched on. However the device has made some favorable first impressions with many tech blogs.

The UK launch was more of a Nintendo show off event and hype builder with no specific information being released. The two key announcements; price and release date were nowhere to be seen with the only snippet of information being 'we want the device out by April next year.'

However Nintendo have today set a release date for the release date and announced that on 29 September a specific date and price will be set although this release date may not reflect a UK release date of the device.

Nintendo has had a difficult 12 months fiscally, with profits down 36% during the previous financial year and are set to be served another blow with Microsoft set to grab a huge share of the Christmas gaming sales with Kinect.

However the 3DS could be Nintendo's savior with tech and gaming experts getting very excited about the device. Gamespot.com editor, Guy Cocker said 'The innovation behind this new console is impressive and innovation’s what the industry needs.'

Are you excited about the 3Ds or do you think it will fail to live up to its hype? one thing to consider is how pricey it may be.
