iOS 4 Causing Perfomance Issues for the iPhone 3G: Apple Are Investigating

If you have an iPhone 3G and have taken the plunge to upgrade to the latest iOS 4, then you might be one of the few to be experiencing some performance problems since your upgrade. When we mean performance issues we mean reports of your phone slowing down or the new OS draining your battery.

However, it would appear that now the complaints are becoming even more common so as a result an official spokesperson from Apple has advised The Wall Street Journal that the company is looking into the matter.

Now, we won’t expect a fix in the next few days but it does give us reassurance that Apple are looking into this problem so we’ll keep you informed if Apple manages to find a fix to the issue.

  • I have certainly noticed the phone hanging more than usually – dam you apple can’t you get anything right !

  • Apples reliance on customer loyalty seems to bet getting further abused, early up takers of there technology are once again receiving the brunt of the issues and just like Apples over censorship (now also in the bookstore) reported in the last few days this will create another setback that I’m sure the company could have done with not coming to light at the moment in time.

However for them to neglect the full testing of iOS4 on the 3g , means inturn there neglecting the need of current customers it seems there so focused on “this changes everything” that they forget what everything is or was and that should be providing full support to current consumers of there products.

It is another setback once again for Apple it will be interesting to see what’s next in the news regarding iPhone/iPad issues (antenna, manufacturing and service charges) and their steps to refund cases won’t make up for the iPhone 4’s lack of function over form.

But Apple have created such a loyal following that people may just put up with what issues there are for the sake of owning the latest Apple product.
Personally, I’d be happier with an older iPhone – at least then the issues are all ironed out.

  • Yes, definitely having problems with my 3G since upgrading to ver. 4. Very sluggish and jerky. Thought it was a ploy to get us to buy the new iPhone. Very irritating. Will be anxious to see what Apple does.

  • Yep i have noticed it too, so annoying when your writing a text message and the phone kind of pauses whilst it catches up with what you have already written!!

Since upgrading I have experienced Notes disappearing before my eyes! I typed a whole load of info in and it literally wiped out not to be found. I did this a couple of times and same thing happened.

  • My iPhone 3G is so slow with ios4.
I will see what iPhone do. If they don’t solve this
I will certainly not buy another apple product.

  • Yes, my iphone “waits” when I’m typing and I’ve noticed some apps now start to open then the screen goes back to the home page!? Get it sorted Apple…

Mine has become so slow it is driving me crazy! Please help? Or is this a ploy to get us buying 4Gs?

Ever since upgrading to the new OS my 3G has been ridiculously slow and keeps freezing. I was perfectly happy keeping it for another year or so (my 18 month contract just expired) but the slow down is really getting to me. I was sure that it was Apple trying to force us to buy a new one but I’m glad that it’s being looked into. I’m rapidly starting to lose faith in Apple.

Since I have updated I feel the battery is not lasting even for half aday. So I tried switching off all the notification (PUSH) and stopped using any applications. Even it performed the same. And also, had a major issue Signal Problem. OMG. Let me try restoring them to older version. Apple do something on these issues.
