After being somewhat lost in the recent wash of Droid, HTC and iphone news. RIM will really want to re-establish their position in the smartphone market.
Along with the new 9800 handset RIM are eager to create a buzz around their new BlackBerry operating system (OS 6.)
After a 'sneak peek' video screened at WES 2010, they have now launched a second preview video onto the official BlackBerry blog detailing more of the new features available The demonstration focuses on the new BB interface which RIM describes as being "a mobile experience that is fun and approachable, yet extremely powerful."
The new UI will come with a home screen which can be personalised with apps and contacts plus universal search and 'context-sensitive' pop-up menus akin to the HTC sense UI. Along with the home screen is the exciting looking, WebKit Browser and a revamped media player.
There are some concerns from users, however, that the new OS seems to be too touchscreen-specific, so handsets like the Blackberry Storm 9500 would be well catered for while other Blackberry handsets like the Bold 9000 may be left feeling neglected.
The new OS is set to arrive later this summer. What do you think of OS 6? Are RIM becoming too focused on touchscreen capabilities? and what updates would you really like to see on the BB OS?

RIM needs to improve their touchscreen experience to stay relevant. As long as they continue to provide a physical keyboard they will not be neglecting any users.
