The social networking phenomena, Facebook will have reached a staggering 500 million user mark later this week. The figure has doubled as last year the user count stood at only 250 million users.

To mark the auspicious event, Facebook will launch a sub-site featuring some of the most fascinating stories of its users which is linked to the social network. Facebook has been collecting these stories and already has about 200 stories which it will be showcasing on the new site when it goes live.

So you don’t have to sift through every story before you get to one that interests you, Facebook have created a search function which will allow you to search through location and theme.

If you’ve got a story to tell on Facebook, such as how you met your future partner on Facebook or how you managed to track down a long lost friend…then you can even add your own story as long as it fits within the 420 character limit of a Facebook status update. Stories can also be liked and the favourite ones will be highlighted so make then interesting folks!

We’ll keep you updated on when the site becomes live but until then if you fancy sharing your stories with us on how Facebook has changed your lives then leave us a comment below…

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
