WebOS might not be a hotshot like iOS or Android, but it certainly has its own bevy of fans. Palm has focused its attention on
aggressively marketing its latest version webOS 1.4.5.
If the rumors buzzing around are to be believed, then the latest version of the mobile operating system has already hit the European markets and very soon will be available in Canada as well. However, what is puzzling me is the fact that apparently this update includes a bug which causes the internal drive to be marked as read-only for Perl based applications, and the company has still decided to go ahead and deploy the OS anyways.
Good people at Palm, however, took the trouble of posting this message on their developer forum, "We’ve spent the last week attempting to address this issue in a way that would not require restarting the carrier certification process, but we’ve concluded that this is not possible. Restarting certification would delay 1.4.5 substantially and could result in some wireless operators not taking the update at all.” On the other hand, HP has delayed the launch of its Android tablet device. Rumor has it that the company is now focusing on developing a tablet running webOS, oh wait a minute, buggy webOS. Way to Go, HP.

Should just have one unified OS. That way many people won’t be confused and too many choices is just not too good. I go int the mobile shops and the choices of tariffs just messes with my head!

Way to completely ignore the fact that relatively few PDK apps even write to that device, or the fact that there’s a perfectly viable workaround (write in your app’s directory, like you’re supposed to)
So iOS and Android never have bugs? Looks to me someone’s making this out to be more than it is.
Bad journalism, Bill. Either that or the person who wrote this is just utterly ignorant. Both are equally likely.
