Android App: Save Your Fingers with Swiftkey

If you're tempted by Droid X or one of the other Android handsets which are (or soon will be) floating around the market then you'll want any idea of the type of apps you will have available to you if you do opt to jump over to Google.

Software and language engineers have been working on the Swiftkey app for the past two years and now it’s being made available for free. Swiftkey (beta ) is basically an improved version of Google's factory keys but it happens to come with an impressively accurate predictive text feature and it can be download now directly from the App Market.

The app replaces your stock Android soft keyboard and once you allow it, the clever little app 'learns' how you construct your texts and emails and then saves you the hard work of typing by (correctly) guessing what you're going to type next. Reviews of the app have been positive as it is free it's worth a shot plus it's a great example of the quality of the applications becoming available on Android.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
