If I cast my mind back almost 10 years, to when I was beginning High School, the big craze was a rather rudely named rubber bangle, and to wear them properly you had to have a million on them all the way up your arm. Rather sadly, I still have 21 black ones on my wrist right now, which will not come off as they’ve shrunk to fit, and even when they inevitably snap, I replace them. Feel free to hurl abuse in the comments…
With this anecdote in mind, you can see how hard I have to try to NOT buy some Silly Bandz. They’re huge with kids in America right now, and set to be the new tamagotchi, scoobies, yo-yos and whatever other simple gadgets the little ones have gone crazy for over the years.
Silly Bandz are essentially the rubber bangles I wear, except they’re made of silicone so won’t get stuck on your wrist and you actually want to remove them since once off they snap back into a variety of cute and cool shapes include animals, instruments and princess paraphernalia. There’re seven sets each containing 24 bands for the pocket money price of £3.99.
