VoIP mobile space players Skype and Fring have got into a skirmish and things seem to be getting out of hand now. Fring had temporarily suspended Skype from its new iPhone 4 app. Apparently, its network was overburdened due to new iPhone 4 updates.
However, Skype chose to retaliate back by accusing Fring of 'misusing' Skype services. It also accused Fring of violating Skype's API Terms of Use and its licensing agreements. Finally, Fring has claimed that Skype has asked it to completely block Skype services from its application. It also has claimed that Skype has threatened to sue the company in the case of non-compliance. However, Skype has trashed these accusations.
Now both the companies are dishing out choicest adjectives to describe each others' actions. Reportedly, Fring has labeled Skype's move as an "anti-competitive ambush", whereas Skype chose to claim that Fring's "mis-use" of its services is damaging Skype's brand and reputation with customers. It is yet to be seen who actually wins this battle. But seems like, by branding Skype as "cowards", Fring currently has upper hand in the verbal war. Your move, Skype!
