After the runaway success of the iPad, BlackBerry and RIM aren’t resting on their laurels as it has been muted that they’re working on their own tablet device and it will surface by the end of the year if analyst Ashok Kumar of Rodman and Renshaw are to be believed.
It’s not known who the device might be aimed at – but we would expect them to go after the business market – so don’t be surprised if you see some yuppy-types working around with giant Blackberry’s within 12 months.
According to shadowy figures the device could be as big as 7 inches and feature 2 cameras, something Apple decided to leave out of the on their iPad.
So the new tablet will have video chat, but their are also rumours it will boast a 1GHz Marvell processor – which could see the device boasting full HD 1080p video playback, 16 mp photo capture, and maybe even 3D content too.
So far we’ve heard that it will act more or less as a companion device to a BlackBerry rather than a full on tablet PC, but these rumoured specs make it sound far more powerful than we initially thought for.
As ever, we’ll keep you posted if this one gets a bit more concrete in the coming weeks.
