YouTube announced on Wednesday that it has launched an improved mobile website with HTML5-friendly service perfect for flash-less devices.
HTLM-5 is of course the future of video for internet and doesn’t require and codecs to play – so therefore you won’t ever need Adobe Flash, but has yet to truly penetrate the market until now.
The new mobile site allows users to see a much more detailed version of YouTube than ever before, the new site will be quicker than any YouTube app and will be very similar to the web-based service we all know and love.
Many of the popular elements of the full YouTube website will be now available on the mobile site, including search suggestions, support for like/dislike buttons, and the ability to create playlists.
Google takes a cheap shot at Apple by hinting at the demise of native YouTube applications (like those found on the iPhone) by pointing out that the mobile site will see improvements more frequently than the native applications.
So would you be willing to use your mobile web browser to view your favourite YouTube clips, or are you happy with your watered down app version.
We’ve had a play and we are very impressed – it’s so quick it puts the native app to shame. So the future of codec-less video is taking its first major footsteps.

I’ve tried the new YouTube mobile site and I am very impressed. The native YouTube app on my iPhone 3GS is rubbish and have hardly used it for this reason. Unfortunately there is no way to remove the YouTube app as Apple don’t allow their built-in apps to be removed. Painful.
I watched more YouTube video on my iPhone than I even have done last night. It’s a great site. Well Done Google :)
I must say that my decision to acquire a Palm Pixi with Sprint assistance was each a rational and emotional one particular. I mean, the Palm Pixi is lovely and functional. And coupled with the program quality of Sprint, it seems absolutely nothing short of a revolution from the creating. I feel that Palm and Sprint have (pretty much) hit it off famously. I did a whole lot of investigation previous to purchasing the Pixi but overlooked at least just one thing. The Pixi doesn’t, yet, allow me synchronize my e-mails involving it and Outlook. As far as I am concerned, this is a drawback I am facing unless Palm comes up with a solution speedily. With my earlier SmartPhone running a Windows OS, it was a snap to synchronize e-mails as well as other information with one’s Pc. But Pixi’s inability to complete so is generating existence a tiny tough for me mainly because I’ve to Bcc each and every e-mail, I send out, to my e-mail address and then manually transfer it for the ‘sent’ folder in Outlook. I hope Palm, or at minimum a third-party, will come up which has a alternative extremely soon that can quickly enable me synchronize all my e-mails, and ideally all needed data, between the Pixi and my office Pc.
I enjoy reading through the posts. I absolutely enjoyed every little bit of it. I have you saved your weblog to check out the new stuff in the near future.
It’s very true – the best plans for monetization fall through if nobody cares about or wants your product. Not only was that great advice, this video gave me a much needed laugh this morning.
