Sony have announced that their Playstation Surround Sound System Soundbar has been given a firm release date of September 30th for Japan.
The Soundbar was actually announced at E3 – but we seem to have missed this announcement – due the sheer number of other announcements.
This budget Sony Soundbar features integrated sub-woofer and S-Force PRO Front Surrond technology and will sit snuggly with your PS3 over optical digital Dolby – we think you might even be able to use with a number of devices including TV’s and even a Xbox 360.
It supports a myriad of different types of Dolby connectivity – including Dolby digital, DTS, MPEG-2 AAC and Linear PCM audio formats.
It bounces surround sound off your walls when it’s placed in front of your television. It’s not Sony’s best Soundbar, but we are really intrigued by it. It’s the only one with a matching PlayStation logo. And for some gamers, that’s likely all they’ll need to know.
So digital Surround Sound for $199 seems very reasonable to us – but the million dollar question does it work as well as 5.1.
