iPhone 4 UK Prices and Tariffs Released by Orange

Orange have announced their iPhone 4 UK prices and tariffs. Compared to O2 and Vodafone, Orange has stuck to it’s unlimited data download.  Furthermore, since the iPhone was released for pre-order from Apple, no other UK carrier has revealed pricing of the iPhone 4 on PAYG, however Orange have open the doors of competition by revealing it’s PAYG pricing too.

So how do the prices compare?  It would appear the Orange handset prices on PAYG seem £20 cheaper than the Apple ones, which does seem a lot more tempting.

So let’s take a look at the monthly tariffs. To make things easier I have given you a break down of the lowest and highest monthly plans on the 16GB and 32 GB iPhone 4 models.

16 GB White or Black iPhone 4 - 18 Month Contract

  • Lowest Monthly Plan - The iPhone 4 will cost you £229 at £35 per month. This will give you 600 minutes and 500 text per month with Unlimited Data download (750MB on their fair usage policy).
  • Highest Monthly Plan - The iPhone 4 will cost you £99 at £75 per month. This will give you a 3000 minutes and 500 texts with Unlimited Data download (750MB on their fair usage policy).

32 GB White or Black iPhone 4 - 18 Month Contract

  • Lowest Monthly Plan - The iPhone 4 will cost you £319 at £35 per month. This will give you 600 minutes and 500 text per month with Unlimited Data download (750MB on their fair usage policy).
  • Highest Monthly Plan - The iPhone 4 will cost you £139 at £75 per month. This will give you a 3000 minutes and 500 texts with Unlimited Data download (750MB on their fair usage policy).

16 GB White or Black iPhone 4 - 24 Month Contract

  • Lowest Monthly Plan - The iPhone 4 will cost you £169 at £30 per month. This will give you 150 minutes and 250 text per month with Unlimited Data download (750MB on their fair usage policy).
  • Highest Monthly Plan - The iPhone 4 will be free at £75 per month. This will give you a unlimited minutes and unlimited texts with Unlimited Data download (750MB on their fair usage policy).

32 GB White or Black iPhone 4 - 24 Month Contract

  • Lowest Monthly Plan - The iPhone 4 will cost you £269 at £30 per month. This will give you 150 minutes and 250 text per month with Unlimited Data download (750MB on their fair usage policy).
  • Highest Monthly Plan - The iPhone 4 will cost £29 at £75 per month. This will give you a unlimited minutes and unlimited texts with Unlimited Data download (750MB on their fair usage policy).

The prices do look very interesting compared to O2 especially with the unlimited data download. In addition to this iPhone 4 tethering is also mentioned on the plans where you get 3GB free on the £75/month plan (24 month) with bundles starting at £5/month. On the 18 month contracts you’ll need to pay for tethering on all plans. This does seem like a pretty good deal to me.

  • Erm, sorry but you’re saying that Orange’s ‘Unlimited’ data is much better than o2’s ‘limited’ data package. Yet you point out that there is a 750mb fair use policy on Orange, which lo and behold is exactly the same as the ‘limited’ amount on o2’s more expensive tariffs.

Sorry, but they’re exactly the same, it’s just that o2 are honest about it. At least they offer the chance to buy an additional 500mb for just £5, which Orange don’t seem to offer.

  • Dane, Couldnt agree with you more – Orange are just trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes – and its working!

Someone in Orange’s Advertising said ‘How can we sell more – i know lets tell the UK its unlimited data, then in small print tell them its actually 750mb. They will fall for that’

  • Pretty sure Orange offer a data bolt on for around £5 too.

  • “[…]Sorry, but they’re exactly the same, it’s just that o2 are honest about it. At least they offer the chance to buy an additional 500mb for just £5, which Orange don’t seem to offer.”

That’s because they don’t need to offer for you to buy an extra 500MB for £5: it’s a fair usage policy, not a cap. i.e. they don’t charge you for going over it, they just inform you that you have and to take it easy next month.

  • Been on orange for years and going to move to O2. Phoned orange to get PAC code. Apparently orange will not sell IPHONE 4 until mid-July!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think you will find Dave, that o2’s ‘limited’ usage is capped at 500mb. In fact vodafone have stated that they will include a fair usage policy of 1gb with their iphone 4 contracts

  • if everyone looks at this properly.
o2 are offering 500mb, 750mb or 1gb dependent on your tariff and unlimited wi-fi on bt openzone and the cloud.
orange are offering 750mb but this is combined 3g data and wi-fi and its only on btopenzone.
vodafone are offering 1gb 3g data and 1gb wi-fi on bt openzone only.

if your using facetime on the wi-fi i think o2 is more attractive as is still unlimited.

Not sure Orange are going to take into account your Wi-Fi usage as that’s on your broadband provider or the provider of the Wi-Fi and nothing to do with them. But if that’s true then people need to know. For me I can use anything up to 250mg a week. Will these new data changes effect older contracts on 3G’s were the data is free ?

Fair usage policy and capped data rates are VERY different.

If you go over a capped rate you get charged silly money for every extra MB.
Fair use usually only comes into play if you hammer the connection for big downloads, if you exceed the fair usage, 1 of 3 things will happen.

1 – everything works as it should at the same speed.
2 – everything works but is slower.
3 – your data connection is cut until your next data allowance comes into effect.

Personally I’d choose fair use “unlimited” every time.

  • Fair use policy is a load of crap. It just means theres a limit but we’ll let you go over it only once without charging you.
