Toshiba have announced the launch of a 128GB embedded flash memory module, quadrupling the current standard of 32GB. According to Toshiba, the NAND flash memory chip is the highest capacity chip ever achieved in the industry and samples will be available as early as September with production starting late this year.
Using advanced chip thinning and layering technology, Toshiba managed to create individual chips only 30 micrometers thick (a typical dust mite is 420 micrometers.) The new device integrates sixteen 64Gbit (equal to 8GB) NAND chips fabricated with Toshiba’s 32nm process technology and a dedicated controller in a 17x22x1.4mm package.
The chips can be used for a variety of consumer electronics but this is particularly great news for the smartphone industry who can use the chip to greatly improve the storage capacity of handsets which may help Motorola on its quest to bring out the World's first 2GHZ smartphone by the end of the year. We will probably also see plans for a 128GB iPhone in the near future.

Simply amaziing. How much would that phone cost considering the nand/memory itself is worth quite a bit?
