With the games industry’s big E3 Expo next week, lots of people will be making last-minute plans for the 3-day gaming festivities. With Sony unveiling their Wand, Microsoft with their Natal and finally Nintendo with the 3DS, it would seem the we might get a new cheap PS3 costing $199.99.
Although there has been no suggestions that Sony are planning a new cheaper PS3 as they’ve only released their new slimline recently, on the new 3D website for Sony we have just come across this picture which suggests a new price tag – a $100 cheaper than before.
According to the list presented by the FCC recently, which disclosed model numbers of new chipsets, one of the new models has a different hard drive – possibly bigger capacity or worryingly they’re going to make it smaller.
Also one of the debugging units has had some cosmetics changes. We are not to sure what this might mean, but debug units are only required when there has been a change in the chips on the motherboard.
So can we expect a new PS3 to be announced at E3? Maybe, however we think it is likely to be a revised version due to reduced the unit cost, which was the main reason for the re-design last time.
Would a substantial discount on the PS3 persuade you to join the next generation of gaming ? Have your say below….

Need a more affordable PS3. Slimline still expensive.
