Google Background Images Lasted Only 1 Day

Sometimes it is the big guys that get it wrong in the world of tech and yesterday was definitely the case for the world’s biggest search engine, Google.

Google were testing their new custom homepages feature, which would allow users to choose the background picture, however the testing didn’t go according to plan as users found that the explanatory link didn’t work.

As a result, many people thought that Google had permanently changed their homepage so decided cease the experiment.

So we are now back to the minimalism that we know and love and hope Google no better next time.

Apparently you’ll still be able to add a custom background if you really want to but we can’t find the link that’s meant to be in the bottom corner of their homepage – more bugs? Or just for our friends over the pond.

If you got the chance to change your background let us know below and tell what picture you have decided to use…

  • I was a bit skeptical at the whole ‘we have a custom background! Use us! Google!’ but now I think it’s a really great feature. I’m glad that it customisable and they still can stay with the default versin. I’m just happy because I have David Bowie looking at me everytime I visiit Google.co.uk!
    Good article!

  • Thanks for the feedback Ellie !

David Bowie – not sure I could handle him on my homepage – always scared me since Labyrinth.

I’m considering a picture of a some nice British countryside to keep me calm under pressure.

  • I like the new background feature and still have it activated now. xD

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
