We know that the release date for the iPhone 4 has been set for 24th of June, with pre-orders expected to start in approximately 5 days times. With a range of network providers in the UK carrying the iPhone 4, the has been no word regarding pricing. Well, that is until now, as O2 are showing their iPhone 4 UK pricing tariff online as we speak.
So let’s take a look at their data plan below…
The cheapest plan is for a duration of 24 months will cost £25 per month. For £25 per month you will get unlimited texts but just a measly 100 minutes and 500 MB of data per month. The more expensive one is for 18 months at £65 per month, which offers unlimited minutes and texts and a no so great 1GB of data per month.
However, if you know that you will probably go over your download limit, which a fair few of us techies will, then from October 2010 you will be eligible for an optional monthly bolt on which for an additional 500 MB, will cost £5 and for 1GB, will cost £10.
They have yet still to announce details on how much the iPhone handset alone would cost on Pay As You Go, but if you’re thinking of going down that route, expect to pay a pretty penny.
At the moment the tariff seems fairly reasonable as we did know that all network carriers were going to be scrapping their unlimited data allowance structure. However, if you feel that it isn’t fairly reasonable then you might want to hold fire and see what other networks, such as Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Three have to offer.
Full tariff details can be found over on O2

Not handset prices?
UK’s Tele Coms not keeping pace with demand
I appreciate that O2 is at least being honest informing its customers. Yet this does not get away from the fact that the telecommunications Companies in the UK are not keeping pace with the huge increased demand for legitimate downloaded products.
Meanwhile the OFT Office of Fair Trading should halt the miss selling of Broadband by many ISP’s falsely stating unlimited usage when in fact they are not. Businesses are being seriously affected by the restrictions placed on ‘Legitimate Downloads’ of both music and Movies due to low Gig caps. All this at time when new products, which keep markets flowing, are being seriously affected.
The UK Government meanwhile is seeking to criminalize all Net users to gain revenue by the introduction of new Laws. See here for details: http://tinyurl.com/35phmvt

Not as yet, but the usual way Apple/O2 operate is that the price of the new device will take over the price of the old device at release point.
Not sure how this will work with the 3G and 3GS still being sold on Apple and O2…
I was thinking the same thing. They may discontinue it nearer to the end.
