The HTC EVO 4G has managed to beat the largest one-day sales for Sprint and has surpassed a record that was previously held both by the Samsung Instinct and the Palm Pre.
The record sales for the EVO has led to shortages across America with many of the top retailer stating that they have sold out including Best Buy, Radio Shack and Spring stores.
The Evo 4G, which happens to be HTC’s flagship Android handset, is the world’s first 4G phone – able to work on WiMax networks. Of course, it is 3G capable as well. It is a feature packed phone complete with a 4.3-inch LCD screen, HDMI port, an 8-megapixel camera and Android 2.1.
It has been suggested that HTC aren’t going to be able to keep up with demand, and with release of Apple’s new phone the iPhone 4 just weeks away some have suggested that consumers may pick up Apple’s new handset instead.
Sprint is working with HTC “around the clock to increase inventory in all sales channels”, but HTC have often struggled to keep up with demand on previous smartphone launches.
Will the iPhone 4 sale figures topple that of the HTC Evo 4G? We have an inkling it would. Let’s wait and watch.

Bad time to launch. Competition too harsh
Agreed they have inadvertently launched into a Apple hurricane.
