About a week ago I finally got around to filling out a Tesco clubcard application form. A few days later and I received the standard credit-card sized clubcard and the small keying sized barcode, but even this was not enough for me to remember to take my card into town. I have already missed out on many point building shopping trips by leaving my keys and wallet at home. When the chance of building up the points for a glorious £1 voucher seemed impossible, Blackberry saved the day.
Possibly the most useful application ever, the Tesco Clubcard application puts a barcode on the one thing you will always have with you wherever you go: your Blackberry smartphone (yes there's an iPhone app too!) The application is what all apps should be, simple and effective. You download, run, type in your name and card number and then voila a barcode on your screen. (Plus what it can do that cards cannot, is tell you your balance.)
The downside is that the current app can only be used at a main-store standard till run by a cashier, so no petrol pumps, self-service, or Express store scanning capabilities at the moment. But Tesco have confirmed that they will be adapting the app to suit all checkouts in the near future.

Nice story but i find it hard to believe you were on a shopping trip with neither your keys nor your wallet :-)
Be great when the app can be used at my local self serve!
