Google has officially announced its Android 2.2 OS, codenamed Froyo at its I/O developer conference yesterday.
Android 2.2 is expected to be much faster in speed than the Android 2.1, and according to Google it is around 2 to 5 times faster, due to the integration of the V8 javascript engine.
Android 2.2 is also getting more security conscious by adding some device policy management APIs which will enable developers to write applications that have the ability to control security features like remote wipe, minimum password and lockscreen timeout.
As well as this other delightful goodies on the new Google OS include a new back up application which will let you quickly transfer your data to a new device.
As Apple says no to flash, it would appear that Google are saying yes yes! The Android 2.2 will also be making Adobe Flash 10.1 available on the OS as well working with a range of smartphone manufacturers to ensure that flash is already pre-installed on their handsets.
