Google Android 3.0 aka Gingerbread to be Released in October?

It has been revealed that the launch date for the next version of Google Android 3.0 is expected for Q4 2010.

The announcement came about Google Android 3.0 from a web page mentioned yesterday at Google I/O, in which the question was asked "When will other Google products support WebM and VP8?, and the response from Google was, "WebM support in Android is expected in the Gingerbread release (currently planned for Q4, 2010). We expect many other Google products to adopt WebM and VP8 as they prioritize it with their other product requirements. Keep an eye on the WebM blog for announcements".

So as Google codename’s the Android 3.0 as Gingerbread, it does make you wonder whether the name Gingerbread could have any significance to do with the date it is set to be released. Gingerbread is usually associated with Halloween and as Google have suggested Q4 to be the release date could we expected the launch date month to be October. Well, it is only a guess at the moment, but what do you think? Leave us a comment and let us know..

  • In this area, I’ve NEVER heard of gingerbread being associated with Halloween. Gingerbread is only associated with Christmas in this region.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
