It has been rumoured that search engine giants, Google are getting into the digital books business to compete with the likes of Apple and Amazon.
This new service, code named Google Editions is due to be released in the summer and will enable users to buy digital copies of books that they find through its Google books search engine.
As well as this, retailers can also get involved by selling Google Editions on their own sites and obtaining a revenue share from the sales. The service is expected to offer users the ability to access millions of books allowing you to log onto any computer and start reading books.
With the release date set for next June or July for Google Editions, I am pretty sure that Apple and Amazon are not likely to take this lying down, so expect more news on this in the next coming weeks.
