With the iPhone 4G release date set for the summer, it would appear that the news has certainly been tantalising the taste buds of 40% of Blackberry owners.
According to a survey conducted by Crowd Science, 2 out of 5 Blackberry users said that they would to move over to the Apple side when their contract is up for renewal.
However, the current iPhone has been criticised for its lack of security features which allow the most novice of mobile phone users to jailbreak the iPhone OS, so we will probably have to wait and see what features the new iPhone 4G has to offer Blackberry users, who are so used to Blackberry RIM security.
Are you a Blackberry user? Do you think you will venture onto the Apple side when the iPhone 4G is rumoured to be released this summer? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think…

im going to the new curve coming soon
cuzzy
ive got a 8320 curve but will be going to to the fruity apple side because of the problems with the touchscreen storm in the uk. if blackberry got it sorted i would stick with them.
I have had Blackberries since the 8100, i now have a Storm. Recently i was given an Iphone as a present and thought i`d give it a try two months later i`m back on my blackberry.
The Iphone was forever dying before the day was out, my blackberry lasts a few days.
The iphone was a pain to read emails if you have more than one account, It wasn`t very customisable and if you had big fingers the keypad was next to useless.
My iphone is now used as a glorified Ipod touch!
Wow, this is big news. How accurate is the survey thou. I know a LOT of Crackberry Fanboys!
I agree with Stevie to a large extent. I’ve been a BlackBerry user since the days of the 6230. Initially, while I didn’t like the look, the functionality was revolutionary and amazing. Though some would say that RIM has fallen behind in terms of innovation, which is true in some ways, the BlackBerry platform was so well designed from the start that in spite of all the devices with bells and whistles that have released since, the BlackBerry still is the number one mobile phone for push email and, IMHO, for choices of instant messaging.
I admit the iPhone is a sweet device though, as I’ve been using one, off and on for the last two months, solely for the purposes of using some apps that are either unavailable for the BB, work better on the iPhone or aren’t supported in the UK, like the official eBay app.
However, aside from that, my iPhone is just a toy and I’ve grown bored of it, especially due to the fact that the battery can’t survive a half day properly with constant use, even with low brightness and other power saving settings. Contrastly, my BB 9700 battery lasts between 2-3 days of constant use and on the rare occasion I don’t use it constantly can give me 4 days.
I was even considering switching to the 3GS just so my wife doesn’t roll her eyes when she sees me out and about, walking around with two phones and because I really do need access to eBay properly on the go and the iPhone has a faster browser but when it came down to it, it’s the iPhone that I’m selling on eBay right this moment because my BlackBerry handles email better (a necessity), battery lasts longer, is neater and smaller, looks more classy, uses less data and therefore performs better in low bandwidth areas, has loads of business contacts worldwide on BBM who don’t use MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk or the other IMs, and, as I’ve realised on more than one occasion, PLAYS MUSIC BETTER. That’s right; you read correctly.
The standard headphones that come with the BlackBerry sound noticeably and significantly cleaner than the ones bundled with the iPod Touch or iPhone and they also give better definition, when compared with the headphones that come with either the Touch or iPhone. I listened to both devices with the equaliser turned off, then switched headphones (iPhone headphones in the BB & BB headphones in the iPhone) and I also listened to both with the equaliser turned on. The BB & its headphones came out tops in each instance; even when the BB headphones were in the iPhone, they sounded better than the Apple ones.
So, whether BB users will switch to the 4G depends on a number of factors, including what the BB users use their BBs for, how good the 4G turns out in the areas the 3GS stinks in now and whether they want a toy or a consistent platform that does what it does well (except the browser, of course).
i have a blackberry 9700! this phone is amazing theres so much you can do! iphone is not what all they make it out to be! officially a blackberry user only! the world in my hands
