As Google Earth was one of the mock up applications featured on the phone when the Nexus One was officially launched early this year, Google is pleased to announce that the application is now available to download in the Android Market.
The application seems to be the only device running on Android 2.1, but the Droid version is coming soon. Eventually all phones that run Android 2.1 will be able to use the app.
Previously Apple's iPhone was the only phone with Google Earth, however it has been suggested that the Nexus One version of Google Earth is better equipped for the Google Earth's 3D interface thanks to it's 1 GHz processor and 800 x 480-pixel display.
So what does this Google Earth app include? Well, similar to Google Maps, there are a number of layers available which include Places, Businesses, Panoramio, Wikipedia, Borders and Labels and Terrain. However, what is notably different to the iPhone app is the Roads layer which the iPhone app doesn't include and also the fact that the Nexus One has voice recognition which does give it that fun and added advantage to call out a well known landmark and it will take you there!
