Samsung is set to release its new line of 3D TVs and Blu-ray player in the UK as soon as next month.
Blighty stores will stock the first 3D models: the LED 8 Series and 7 Series TVs as well as the BD-C6900 Blu-ray player in March.
Samsung unveiled its world first in 3D Blu-ray movies at CES this year, with the honour going to Monsters Vs Aliens.
“3D is not a niche or novelty product for Samsung, that is why we have 20 3D TVs at launch and why we are first to market,” said Samsung spokesperson, Michael Zoller.
Samsung are set to release the LED 9 series and Plasma 7 Series TVs, as well as the HT-C6930W home theatre system later this year.
“The success of recent 3D movie titles is building anticipation from people who want to enjoy the richness of 3D content from the comfort of their living room,” said Samsung's President of Visual Display Business, BooKeun Yoon.
“We are confident that by being first to market with the best integrated technology and approach, we have the best opportunity to capitalise on the market anticipation and continue to strengthen our leadership in 2010," he said.
All of the 3D models will come with a built-in Ethernet connection and a USB port that will support an optional dongle for wireless-ready capabilities.
Samsung has been mass producing 3D TVs since January this year in 40 inch, 46 inch and 55 inch screen sizes.
To experience the extra dimension, users will be required to wear active-shutter glasses to experience the 3D effect of the alternatively displayed left and right eye images.
The TV maker has included auto-conversion technology in its 3D processor that renders 2D content into 3D in real time, allowing users to add a new level of depth to live programs.
“Consumers can add a level of depth and clarity to a live football game, with the simple push of a button”, the company says.

It’s a great innovation from samsumg Technology. Valued Viewers can enjoy real 3D Picture from there living room. They can enjoy as a real Game as they site on gallery. Times is not so far, We need to wait only One month, Then Samsung will prove their potentiality.
We are waiting…..
As a glasses wearer myself – I am not too sure that they have cut it right on the spot because if you are going to wear the 3D glasses without your magnifying normal glasses then the 3D image will be blurred. If you wear them on top of you glasses then the feeling would be uncomfortable.
But apart from that, I think that this would be a great innovation in the name of technology. Pretty soon, we will have the world watching 3D, presuming that the manufacturers would have dealt with the glasses problem, and gamers experiencing shooting games in a completely new depth. New dimensions and sensations of moving images – I can’t wait!
Thanks for the post, 3D TVs are the future! The games are going to be really good but the downfall is people with eye problems may not be able to see the 3 dimensions and also cost factor. Can’t wait to see the 3D Tvs in action.
I find it odd as well that samsung aren’t including any 3d glasses in with the C7000 or C8000 models and that they have to be purchased seperatly, although they have thought about making a different sized pair for children.
other draw backs is that it could be quite frustrating if the batteries go flat part way through a film and needs to be recharged/replaced.
But having seen avatar in 3d in the cinema, its understandable what the fuss is about and if these samsung sets have a similar quality then the results will be worth it.
I want 3D without shutter glasses. Anybody?
