Rumour has it that Samsung and LG are set to join the growing list of 3D TV manufacturers by summer. Samsung is claiming that it has revised its sales target for 3D TVs from 2 million to 2.6 million whilst LG are stating that the company will become the world's biggest maker of 3D TVs in 2011 and are hoping to sell 3.4 million units.
LG will be introducing six new LED LCD TVs in all: the Infinia LE9500, LE8500 and LE7500, as well as the LE5500, LE5400, and LE5300. All of the series are 1080p, with the exception of the LE5300 models under 32″ And most come equipped with LG’s connectivity suite that has recently been upgraded this year to include Skype and DivX TV.
The 55-inch LE9500 is the flagship TV of the LG series and features impressive measurements of a cabinet depth of just .92 inches and an 8.5mm bezel which makes it a full LED TV with the thinness you’d expect from an edge-lit model.
Meanwhile Samsung will be offering the ultra-thin LED 9000 a 3D TV which offers a remote so funky it's a cutting edge gadget in its own right.
The touch pad remote will be capable of transforming from a numerical pad to a QWERTY pad and will allow the user to watch live TV on the remote, yes, on the remote, even if they are watching a Blu-ray player through the TV itself.
With such competition growing between manufacturers hopefully we will be seeing some competitive prices, however it is likely that they will still come with an eye watering price tag out of the reach of us non-rich folk, at least for a few years.
