After the announcement of iPad, everyone has gone a little crazy about the news, specs and the potential shipping dates, however one thing which a lot of people were looking forward to was Apple also offering more details about the rumoured iPhone 4G.
With the iPad release overshadowing any other news in the gadget world, you might have forgotten the speculation surrounding the iPhone 4G. We know that it is rumoured to have an improved camera, OLED screen and even a touch sensitive case, however I am pretty sure if anyone owns a iPhone 3G, they maybe due for an upgrade shortly, but like me are deliberating on whether to wait for the iPhone 4G.
Now, we did discuss that the iPhone 4G could be released in sometime in mid 2010, and with this next photo showing a blurry cosmetic make up of the phone, we could in actual fact hear the release the iPhone 4G beckoning closer to the predicted release of summer 2010.
So what is this blurry picture we're talking about here? Engadget released a picture during the announcement of the Apple iPad but because the hype was all about the iPad, this is picture of what appears to be a prototype iPhone 4G had been floating around in the public domain unsuspected for over a week and it is only until now that AppleInsider revealed that this could actually be the prototype for the Apple next generation phone.
As this picture is quite hard to decipher, AppleInsider could only really comment on the aesthetics of this supposed iPhone 4G model. It's a shame that the news wasn't a little more about the inside of the phone, but with just a blurry picture we'd be clutching at straws to think it could be anything else.
However, what is interesting is that if there is an iPhone 4G prototype on the loose then the summer release date doesn't look to far-fetched. However, I don't know whether this release date could be a good thing for Apple especially with the release of the iPad set for March/April time. Maybe this is why Apple are keeping tight lipped about the release date of the new iPhone 4G, as it means that Apple lovers could shun the iPad and instead wait a few more months to get their hands on the more powerful iPhone 4G?

That is a picture of a 3g or 3gs in an otterbox defender case.
In Canada. Setting up a promotional employee plan at work which consist of everything (3GB data, unlimited weekends, early weekdays and 450min)for 55$. The deal is with the iPhone 3GS. My dilemma is that if I should just get it and then just buy the iphone 4g or just flat out wait. I’m sure they won’t have any crazy employee plan for the 4G and plus, it should be transferable? Can pop in the sim card and use it the 4G on the same plan? Good plan? Bad plan? What do you guys think?
I don’t know if that picture is real of fake, it’s too blury to tell but so far every June or July apple has released a new iPhone, so going by that it should be June or July this year when the next iPhone comes out.
lets just wait and see. Apple to bring out 2 products at the same time, i dont think so. Think about it my friend.
I think that the 4G should start out as an upgrade for current iPhone users, and then released after the iPad has been in the market for a while
Ok here is my spin on Apple iphone, with all other phone manufacturers you can upgrade to their phone for free maybe not immediately but sooner rather than later the iphone you have to pay for. Yes it is a bloody good phone and yes I have one but I must say that although it would be great to upgrade to the 4g I would not be happy having to pay and I still have a year on my current contract I suspect by the time I am out of contract the 5g will be on its way. I think Apple are missing an opportunity if they followed the other phone manufacturers I think they would of cornered the market as everyone would want one.
of course it looks like an 3g/3gs. what exactly could they change about them to make them so different that you could notice them in a blurry image like this?
personally the only difference i would like to see is the ability to have different colours around the screen, having that part white on a white iphone would be much nicer looking than black with a white phone

the image above is not an iphone, its a cheap knock off that seems to be springing up in hong kong. you can find them on ebay. the image is most likely a fake. Lets be honest, when has apple ever let anything product slip before they announced it in a keynote.
The iphone 4G wont be out until late next year, when AT&T are ready for it – Apple are just hot under the collar about the improving Android OS and have to try and increase hype about it.
I just heard they’ll be releasing the new OS software for the iphone which will inc multitasking, I was able to do multi-tasking (to some extent) ages ago with my jailbroken iphone 1st gen. with 500 – 600 notes gathering dust in my account, and me patiently waiting for the release date_ this iphone 4 better be worth the wait.

I’ve got a nearly 2 year old iPhone 3G which I really love and do not want to upgrade to practically the same 3GS model. I don’t really care much for the iPad but I will buy the 4th iPhone as soon as it comes out. I just hope that it will be released soon because I just can’t wait!!!

I believe the iPad foothold is already full in effect, Apple wants to put the iPhone out at it’s usual time of the year. If they were to release the iPad and iPhone 4G at the same approximate time, they would loose tons of sales because nobody could decide easily which to buy. So that’s why iPad was just released, Apple wants everyone to buy both, so they release iPad several months prior to iPhone 4G so everyone will get the feel of the iPad, then, when the iPhone 4G gets released with the new 4.0 software with the much anticipated multitasking, and the high probability of being released through Verizon, everyone will go hog-wild for the 4G, because the iPad isn’t a phone, and thus will have sold both to most everyone. I for one, want both, but I will buy the 3Gs as opposed to the 4G, because it’s rumored the 4G will have a smaller screen.

Waiting for the 4G
I am also up for a new iPhone. I bought the first iPhone, then the 3G. I love the iPhone and I know what the 3GS can do, but I want to wait until I can get the 4G, so I’m waiting it out. I believe it would be a better idea to release the new iPhone in June for all of those who are up for the upgrade, otherwise they may be swayed to buy the 3GS. It would only make apple more money, and the public very happy. No matter what apple releases, people will be attracted to it, therefor waiting is only going to hurt apple. I am ready for the 4G now! I want to buy an ipad, but only after I get my new iphone 4G. I have a macbook that I love, and can wait on the ipad, but I am in need of a new phone. So apple- RELEASE THAT IPHONE!
Love it or hate it, you can’t analyse the market by assuming that everyone will buy or not buy the iPad. Power users won’t buy one as their main computer – but might for leisure. It’s ideal for anyone whose use of a computer is not keyboard dependent and who wants a more ‘relaxed’ looking object (and it does look great). Teenagers etc. or people who have a works computer but want something to browse email, look at photos etc. I am sure that with the pricing levels many people will buy it anyway in addition to their existing computer. Finally, for most, iPad or iPhone will not be an either/or issue.
Just to let you all know that Apple Iphone 4G will not be released until the end of June or early July but not in May i though i would let you all know so no point waiting so get the 3GS so when the 4G is coming out then sell the 3gs then. I wish you all the best wishes and happiness
Well I reckon they have to bring out the 4g iphone next month because most of our Contracts are up. I dont want another 3g I want some thing new and exciting and Apple know that. Im not waiting till next year I will simply Get something different. Oh and fix the itunes download thru internet explorer it wasted 2 hrs of my time. Thanks Apple..
one of the earlier comments said no way apple will release a phone with a removeable battery, as far as i am aware it is going to become an EU law that phones have a removeable battery so i expect the next iphone to have a removeable battery. this also means it may lose its premium feel.

I just went into the apple store yesterday and asked a worker there about the new ipone. He told me (lowkey of course) that the model found was in fact for real and thatit would probably not be the final model released. He also said that he was 99% sure they would release the new iphone in june. He said they have released the past 3 years in a row in june so there would really be no reason to break that trend. Great new things coming from apple. Can’t wait to get my hands on the new iphone
I have been informed by o2 UK to hold off until July on doing my upgrade as the 4G will be out.

Also, my local o2 stores have cleared the iPhone displays, so I think it is very close to release date.

You can tell by the plug that thats not the new iphone because all the new phone and ipod that apple have made have alot thinner ipod lead !!! Soo on the bases its wrong and also the iphone is a sexy looking phone and tbh from what you make out from the picture this isnt anything like that ! SHIT,

i had a iphone 3g and a 3gs i find its okay . the application is not bad . the battery still disappointing which i think they should improve it then they should let people buy it. I couldnt be bothered waiting for the iphone 4g , so i got a htc desire i reckon that phone is way better then a iphone, the apps are even better.
i still have my iphone 2g.

Why would they Bring the Ipad out then suddenly bring the Iphone 4G out? it would stunt the growth of the Ipad and the fact that they can’t keep up with the demand for the Ipad should show that you be looking at later in the year for the Iphone 4G!!!!!!

In my opinion, the iphone 3gs is 9/10 for features. The main reason that will stop me buying an iphone is that nearly everyone’s got one. I needed a new phone so got a Blackberry. It’s good, but every time I look at it I feel it’s not quite good enough (no GPS, slow web browsing, limited app(‘s) store… but it does the job and has excellent battery life). The new iphone really has to have something revolutionary about it before I joint the iphone herd.

That dude, Steve Jobs is a smart guy man, he knows how to keep the money coming in by making us spending our money, just to get the latest apple phone each year (basically again!) when another one come out.
Have you ever thought about it, the features that are in the 3GS…stevo could of put those in the 3G, like recording a video the least. You do the ‘science’, he’s thinking 2 minutes ahead of all of us, check it….they said 4G aka HD is coming out soon but really the one that they are making for the following year, i bet you, its gonna get you the most when you want to upgrade but can’t b’cuz you got the 4G
Some of you don’t understand, i believe. See, not everyone is wealthy, not everyone can afford both an iPad and an iPhone at the same time. Believe it or not, people WILL choose one thus limiting the attention on one product or the other. Once the iPad hype is done and the next iPhone is released, people will start attempting to get the money to buy it immediately this way they can get the most money out of the situation

The iPad suits a whole different need than the iPhone. So, I don’t think it matters as far as timing with the release of the iPad and the latest phone close together. I want them both but the phone is my priority.

I’m thinking they will release the iPhone 4g in the summer, they seem to want to keep this trend of releasing iPhones in the summer. Howerver I do believe people will wait for an iPhone 4g rather than get an ipad. Why?who the hell wants an oversized iPhone if you’ve got one that fits I. Your pocket. Ipad will flop and not see the attention of iPhones and iPods and macs, it would be like having a pen but then buying a typewriter. Doesn’t make sense.

The new Iphone (4G) will be released in stores on July. 12.
Hopefully should be getting the 4g and the 3g ipad, they’re completely different products for completely different purposes and both absolutely brilliant (hopefully – if the 4g’s as nice to use as the ipad then i will forgive apple all their sins)
