Google Nexus One Already Having ‘Spotty 3G’ Problems?

As you know that the Google’s Phone, the Nexus One is already available in the US, however what was reported as a small glitch in the 3G networking problem has now had a massive flurry of customer complaints.

The main complaint from Engadget is that the owners of the Nexus One either never can switch their device to 3G or it is constantly switching from 3G and EDGE, a complaint coming from Google support forums.

So maybe this is actually a problem related to just T-Mobile’s 3G?  However, the worrying thing is this user does not think so here:

“I’m having this same problem. My G1 has 3G with full strength, but sitting right next to it my Nexus has 1 bar of 3G and keeps switching to Edge. If I let it sit for a while it may go up to 3 bars of signal strength but as soon as I start trying to use it the signal strength drops back down to one bar.

I called T-mobile to make sure that I didn’t need to activate the phone or something to get 3G service. They said my account looked fine and that they couldn’t give me any more support since I had a Nexus One, that I had to call HTC. So I called HTC and they said that your 3G service is a T-mobile issue and they couldn’t help me. The fact that my G1 works perfectly sitting right next to the Nexus though makes me think it really is a problem with the phone.

I’m at the point where I’m about to send this thing back. It ruins the whole experience if I can’t ever stay on 3G for more than a few seconds.”

Also, customers who have bought smartphone have been finding that Google’s customers service support is limited to emails with a lead time of up a day or two to respond back to them. Here is another users complaint.

“So now I’m stuck by a phone for 1-2 days or an email he “Like I’m not sure what it will be.” This is ridiculous, I’ve had bad CS before but HTC takes top notch. Let’s see I call twice.

1st person tells me the phone doesn’t support t-mobile’s 3g bands. I hang up and call back.  2nd person says it’s not their department, and to call technical

Technical says it’s warranty’s problem.  Warranty doesn’t know what the hell is going on and says it’s the network and couldn’t possibly be the phone.  I called earlier in the day as noted, and was told it couldn’t be the phone.

Are you serious? Congrats Google, you’re about to have a PR nightmare with this CS.”

I just wonder that when the Nexus One hits Europe soon whether it will have the same problems. If that is the case then this could be major blunder in Google’s first smartphone. Let’s just hope that Google can get to the crux of the problem before the matter gets out of hand.

If you are an US Nexus One user, let us know if you have had any of these issues? Also, is it all that bad? Are there good things that can be told about the Nexus One?
