Google calls it a ‘superphone’ and the ‘next step in Android evolution’. Now, if you haven’t guessed what I am talking then either you have been cooped up away from unknown civilisation for a while or been hibernating from these cold winter months. Whatever the reason, we won’t keep you in anticipation any longer and reveal to you that the phone Google is talking about is none other than the highly anticipated and talked about Nexus One.
Previously rumoured to be manufactured by HTC, most (if not all) of the speculations surrounding the Nexus One specs and features have now been confirmed. These features include:
3.7 inch AMOLED display with 480 x 800 pixels, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, trackball that includes a multi-colored notification LED, GPS, Wi-Fi, light and proximity sensors, compass, accelerometer, enhanced news and weather widgets, stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm headset jack, 5MP autofocus camera with flash.
Some industry experts have suggest that this isn’t a ‘superphone’ or an ‘iPhone killer’, however it is believed that it may make Apple step up its game in 2010. Over the last couple of years we have seen the iPhone take up a mass market share of the smartphone industry however, with the announcement of Google’s Nexus One it maybe the first time Apple will have to do the chasing. I for one am very happy to see a little friendly competition which can only breed one thing in the name of technology and that is innovation.
If you live in the US, you can buy Nexus One now online via the Google website. It will set you back $179 (£112) with a two year T-Mobile contract agreement and $529 (£332), without the plan. So what about us folk in the UK? Well, according to this Google press release you can buy the Nexus One as of now, not only in the US but also in the UK too.
