Everyone these days is all about the applications you can download to your phone. You’re nobody if you can’t check the weather in every major European city, listen to music on Spotify, or check your armour stats on World of Warcraft on a gadget that used to just, you know, call people.
But what if you don’t want to shell out over £300 towards an iPhone just so you can play about with downloads, then consider the Chumby.
It’s not a pencil case (it just looks like one). No, this soft gadget can download a choice of 1500 applications, including Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia and a selection of tilt response games such as Labyrinth (the one where you have to get the ball in the right hole).
It even functions as an alarm clock, and has wi-fi connectivity, so no subscription fees – and the applications are free. Plus at £140 it’s under half the price of an iPhone- so you can keep your mobile as your mobile, and your Chumby as your play thing!

For £149 I think I would buy an iPod Touch instead and run the iPhone versions of those apps on that! In fact that is what I did!!!
Like an iphone? more like a tomtom. lol
