If you would like to use a netbook while on the go then Orange has a new netbook deal which might entice your. Orange are now offering the Asus 1005HGO with 3G mobile broadband which allows you to get online straight out of the box. The 1005HGO is a Windows 7 laptop which has a 3G modem and sim card built-in and so allows you to use Orange’s 3G network to surf the net, read your email, video chat and keep up to date with your social networks all while you are out and about.
The ASUS EEE 1005HGO has a 10.1 inch screen and uses the Intel Atom processor, this means it can probably be called a netbook and as such it comes with Windows 7 Starter (not Windows 7 Home Premium). Windows 7 Starter has less features than Windows 7 Home Premium and lacks certain user interfaces niceties as well as missing the ability to switch between users without having to log off.
This new Asus comes with a 250GB hard drive for all your photos, music and files, it is ultra compact and light and weighs just 1.4 kg. It has 1GB RAM, built-in webcam, Wi-Fi and can deliver up to 6.5 hours of battery life.
So how do you get your hands on one for free? You need to sign a new contract with Orange for 2 years with a monthly subscription for just £24.47 which will give you 1GB of 3G data and 100 inclusive texts. For 5GB of 3G data it will cost you £34.25. If you want an 18 month contract instead of two years then the laptop is free on the 3GB plan (£34.25 per month) or it will cost you £50 upfront on the £29.36/1GB plan.
