To mark the traditional start of the Christmas buying season, US retailers ritually offer dramatically reduced prices the day after Thanksgiving. While the term 'Black Friday' doesn't incite Christmas cheer, the name is in reference to the impending traffic jams that eventuate on the day. Apple looks set to spread the congestion cheer by extending its Black Friday sale across the Atlantic.apple-black-friday

The deals are there to be had this Friday November 27 from Apple stores across the UK, as well as online Apple stores or by calling 0800 048 0408 from 00:01 to 23:59 GMT.

Last year UK bargain hunters got a nifty £80 off a 20-inch iMac and a not-so-nifty £5 off an iPod. Still, that's like getting a free frapuccino with your new MP3 player to complete your new image.

Apple's teaser page for the UK Black Friday sale doesn't provide any particulars except for saying that if you come back to the online store this Friday, you'll find "lots of great iPod, iPhone and Mac gift ideas- all with free shipping."

Word on the web says that discounts this year are expected to slash £60 off the price of a Macbook and £30 off the iMac. Seeing as we've all slowed our spending as of late, Apple may just feel even more generous this year so we can all look venerable under the Christmas tree.

So if you have an appetite for an Apple for yourself or as a gift, make sure you have enough room on your credit card by Friday.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
