Life is more complicated if you are offline! Nokia has released a funny video about a groom arriving late to his wedding. If only he had been online (naturally with his Nokia N900).
The new Nokia N900 is designed for the online life and will be available in the UK from the 20th November 2009. It is part of a new breed of mobile phones which really double as mobile Internet devices allowing online access (via 3G networks) almost wherever you are. The N900 comes with a 3.5 inch touch-sensitive widescreen display with a 800 × 480 pixel resolution. It runs a flavour of Linux called Maemo which Nokia have developed especially for smartphones and Internet Tablets.
The N900 is Nokia’s attempt to make an iPhone killer and as such it comes with everything you would expect including a full media player, integrated GPS, a whole bunch of included applications (like web browser, instant messaging and email) and a 3-axis accelerometer (which allows the orientation of the screen to change between portrait and landscape mode).
The N900 comes with 32 GB of internal storage (enough for up to 7000 MP3 songs or 40 hours of high-quality video) and support for an additional 16 GB of storage with an external microSD card. This does offer a certain level of flexibility, but it also means there aren’t cheaper models like the iPhone which has an 8GB version for less money.
Unlike the iPhone the N900 has a real QWERTY keyboard as well as the onscreen keyboard, also it has full Adobe Flashâ„¢ 9.4 support (which the iPhone doesn’t). The 5 megapixel camera (2584 × 1938 pixels) camera in the N900 is better than the iPhone’s 3.0 megapixels.
