Some of the staff here at Gaj-IT are real car fans and when we saw the cool gadgets in the new BMW X1 we had to write about it. The production of the new BMW X1 started this month and when it hits the streets in 2010 this new compact SUV will come with everything a gadget fan could need. There is of course and on-board computer and sat nav, but that is to be expected. The X1 also has an optimum gear indicator, parking distance control, rear view camera and loads of multimedia features.
For iPod and MP3 fans the X1 has an AUX-IN connection, including a 12V socket for an external audio source such as an MP3 player. Optionally there is also a USB/audio interface for connection of a USB stick. The tracks on the stick are shown on the display of the radio BMW Professional or on the Control Display included in a navigation system (both of which are also optional). The system is operated using the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel, radio BMW Professional or the iDrive Controller.
The X1 is also ready for your Bluetooth mobile phone. The car comes with a hands-free system, connection for recharging and external aerial. There is also a separately available snap-in adapter allowing the connection of a Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone, which can also be operated via iDrive (in conjunction with navigation system).
Also for the kids in the back there is a DVD system in the rear which includes a monitor with 7-inch colour display integrated into the centre armrest. The DVD system plays video DVDs and audio CDs (incl. MP3 format) and can also be used to display JPEG images.
