'Mystery Google' Delivers Someone Else's Search Results

The main complaint about search engines is that they deliver unrelated results to what you had wanted to find. To capitalise on this frustration, Google have released a new search engine guaranteed to produce irrelevant results.mystery_1500881c

Mystery Google will serve up the search results of someone who Googled before you, but not unlike an online dating site, you will never get to meet them.

A search for "Gaj-It" returned results for "Duran Duran".

I then tried "Sydney Harbour Bridge" and got "the porous material with water", which uncannily isn't too far from the truth.

A final search for "Can smoke flavour be induced artificially?" (don't ask what reading material I have on hand) returned "16316458542 hotties call me" but in case you're wondering, or you're the person who searched for this, that didn't return any hits.

There's no official word on why Mystery Google has been launched, despite its obvious usefulness"¦

It is online a mere two weeks before Halloween though fuelling speculation that this is Google's idea of a searcher's nightmare situation.

If you're spooked by your results, you can rest assured that there is one consistent result. Try the query "What is Mystery Google?" and you'll get "That is the site you are on."

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
