Christmas is creeping ever closer and it's getting to the point now where presents are starting to appear in the shops. Predictions for the top gifts of 2009 are flying round the internet and over the next few weeks I'll be showing you what you should be buying for various different loved ones. This week it's the turn of the girls…
Right here's the important part- girls are unforgiving if you don't respect the age range. So I'll be splitting this top ten into four sections. Buy from one too young at your own peril…
Little Girls
Age range- from 3 to 8.
Go Go Pets Hamster
Little girls this year seem to be big on the fake pets. Go Go Pets Hamsters are the big toy for little girls in 2009. They run around their habitats (oh yes, you don't just buy a hamster- you have to buy it an entire palace too) and talk and 'look just like real hamsters!' Well actually they look nothing like real hamsters but that's the power of a child's imagination huh? Four different ones available- Mary, Mungo, Midge and Bob. No, sorry, Num Num, Chunk, Pipsqueak and Mr Squiggles.

Elmo Live
I have a confession. I really REALLY want one of these, despite the fact that I'm promoting it for young girls. Remember Tickle Me Elmo, who was so big a couple of years ago? This is even better. He talks, he sings, he tells stories, he dances AND he interacts with you! And apart from the animatronic whirring as he moves it's incredibly realistic- like he's being controlled by your very own muppeteer. See HERE for a video

Disney Princesses Magic Mirror Game
Board games are always popular at Christmas (you need something to do after dinner while avoiding the Queen's speech. Here's one aimed at keeping gender roles exactly where they've been forever. You pick a Disney princess, and work your way around the board collecting hearts. When you find one, you look in the magic mirror and if your prince appears it's yours! Dads- learn which prince goes with which princess or your daughter will mock you.

Fur Real: Lulu My Cuddlin' Kitty £47.99
The poopless pets are popular with the slightly older preteen age group this year too. Last year Fur Real had huge success with their dog and pony toys, this year it's a white long haired Persian cat called Lulu. Unlike the hamsters this one does actually look very realistic- right down to 'licking' its paw to wash its face and purring. Great hit with little girls and you won't be stuck looking for a home for it when she inevitably gets bored of her on Boxing Day.

VTech Kidizoom Multimedia Digital Camera (pink)
VTech Kidizoom is not a new gadget, but it is creeping its way up the popularity list. Your pre-teen will be starting to take interest in technology (come on admit it- she's probably better than you already) and this oversized camera is a great way for her to start with photography. It takes pictures, films videos and even has built in games so is great to take on holiday. Plus it takes regular SD cards so printing the photos is easy too.

Bop It!
Ok, I have another confession to make. I cannot make heads nor tails of Bop It! But I'm aware that not all girls want pink fluffy things and this toy is set to be extremely popular for Christmas 2009. An updated version of the already highly successful game, you win by hitting various points of the contraption. It's highly addictive looking at some reviews, but guaranteed to cause pain and tears before the turkey- which is what Christmas is all about really.

Girl Tech IM-ME
It took me a while to work out what this was all about. But it's a pretty sweet gadget actually. If your family is anything like mine then you'll be no stranger to the computer rotation policy. Which causes trouble if someone wants to play WoW and someone wants to MSN. IM-ME has a wireless adaptor which plugs into your computer, then connects the portable bit to your internet at no extra usage cost and allows for chat between six friends. (Warning- only works within 60 meters of the dongle, and her friends MUST have an IM-ME as it's doesn't support MSN, AIM etc).

High School Musical Dance Mat
Get Your Head In The Game because We're All In This Together! Ok those are the only two songs I can remember from High School Musical, but don't worry because with this then you'll get to know them all really well as your teenager follows the flashing lights on the centre console and learns to dance like those brats from the Disney channel. And if it gets really bad you can always have a go yourself and enjoy repeatedly stepping on Zac Efron's face…

Samsung ST550 Digital Camera
Look through the photos of any girly day or night out and you'll come across quite a few where it looks like the photographer's aim was to cut people off the side and miss off chins. Blind? No, they were just unable to see the screen as they posed in front of a camera held at arms length. Now she can make sure she gets everyone in the frame because the Samsung ST550 has an LCD screen on the front too, so you can see where the damned things pointed (still won't be much help if you're drunk…).

iKaraoke
It wouldn't be Christmas without another iPod accessory. iPod's remain a top present for older teens, but chances are she already owns one and rarely takes it out of her ears long enough to make real conversation. With the iKaraoke she can now sing along tunelessly, but at a much higher volume. Good present to get Grandma on once the sherry has kicked in, and you know that you'll be 'borrowing' it for New Years Eve…

Looking for a great gift idea or stocking stuffers for co-workers and friends, the new fantasy novel, “Gateway to DreamWorld,” released last month, has been receiving rave reviews.
During the cold months ahead, they will curl up in a warm blanket or in front of the fireplace and enter a fantasy world filled with excitement and suspense.
The book is listed on Amazon.com, Barnes&Nobles.com, and Powell’s Books.com
