Want To Unlock Your iPhone 3G….Legally?

Unlocking your iPhone 3G has sparked controversy ever since it was first talked about. however it has always been very unofficial, with Apple actually saying it was not a good idea.

You may be surprised to know find out then that it is now possible to legally unlock your device, courtesy of Apple.

The image seen below was found on TheAppleBlog, where Olly Farshi found he could legally unlock his iPhone. The thing to note here is that he did it totally via his Mobile Phone Carrier, which in this case was Sonera, the official iPhone carrier in Finland. The assistant in the store was happy to help him out here, by using the IMEI number and then syncing that with Apple to authorise the unlock.

I’d be very interested to see what other success our readers have had here in unlocking their iPhone and how easy etc. it was in their country….

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
