Spotify iPhone App Receives Rave Reviews

They say that first impressions count, which is good news for the new iPhone Spotify app, which so far has received rave reviews from testers, including US tech blog Epicenter saying, “you’d have to pry it out of my cold, dead iPhone before I’ll delete it.”

The big selling point of the new Spotify app, is its ability to cache your playlists on the iPhone, so you can listen to a huge range of tunes without a network connection.Spotify-iPhone

There is a bit of a catch though, especially for free users of Spotify- you will need to fork out for using the app on your iPhone. It’s not just a few pounds either, but a rather hefty £120 per year to access the service.

Historically, people haven’t been keen to pay for streammed music with Virgin and HMV both closing their premium music streaming services recently, and Napster only able to boast 60,000 subscribers in the UK.

The difference in this case is that Spotify hasn’t just teamed up with any old hand-held device; this is the Apple iPhone we’re talking about.

iPhone and iPod Touch users in the UK have so far downloaded more than 1.5 billion apps, showing a definite appetite to keep their handsets interesting and ahead of the game in terms of usability.

The new Spotify app will house up to an interestingly specific 3,333 songs and will store an unlimited number of playlists.

You will also be able to sync playlists from the desktop version of Spotify, or create new playlists directly on your iPhone. So if you’re feeling delierously happy on the bus on the way home from work, you can easily queue up a series of songs to get a party going in your head and scare the person in the seat next to you.

Rumour has it that the new app will be available to download onto your iPhone in the next few weeks, but the official line is that it is still needs to be approved by Apple for distribution in its App Store.
