solar-eclipse

Hot on the heals of the release of Google Earth 5.0, tomorrow the longest eclipse in a century will be webcast from a number of internet sources.

The solar eclipse, expected to last over 6 minutes, will be broadcast to those not able to see it from their locations with coverage starting at midnight tonight.

The next eclipse of a similar length will not take place until 2132 and the utilisation of technology in this respect will open up the door to anyone who would otherwise miss out on this once in a lifetime view.

Score one for the internet, citizen journalism and advances in web video technology.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
