If there’s one thing Apple does well, it’s the company’s ability to generate more than its fair share of rumours. The latest one to go quasi-official is that a new Mac Tablet will be available in shops in October this year, just in time for Santa to place a mass order.
The report comes from the China Times and has taken a life of its own amongst numerous blogs around the world.
Word has it that the product will have a touchscreen that will measure between 8.9- 9.7 inches. Yes, there’s a bit of a discrepency here, but we are working witha rumour after all.
The Mac Tablet will reportedly will retail around US$800 (£485), which is notably above the usual $300 to $500 price range of current netbooks on the market. This lends strength to the idea that the netbook will have the added touchscreen feature to justify this price jump.
Apple are doing its usual, “we won’t confirm or deny” routine, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any new bits of news that makes this year’s Christmas present shopping decidedly easier.
