Although the Samsung NC20 is now available in the UK, the previous model the NC10 has always been a good netbook and now Vodafone is offering it to free for those who sign up to a two year contract.
To get the NC10 for free you need to sign up to a 2 year contract and you will get an NC10 with a Vodafone SIM and mobile broadband software pre-installed so you can connect to the web without using any other modems. The are two subscriptions a £25 a month with 1GB of data and a 24 month contract for £30 a month with 3GB of data.
Vodafone has a well established broadband (meaning 3G) mobile network in the UK and using the NC10 with a Vodafone SIM means you can get online while on the go. For business users this is an excellent way to remain connected to HQ without the struggle of reading and replying to emails on your phone. It also means that all of your company resources could be available while you are on the road.
For the blogger, perhaps you spend time traveling every day on the train or bus and have 15 minutes idle. Now you can blog on the move.
The black NC10 weighs only 1.33kg and includes a built-in webcam and a 10.2-inch glossy LED display. The NC10 uses the now ubiquitous Intel Atom CPU running at 1.6Ghz and comes with a 160GB hard drive, a 3 in 1 memory card reader, 1GB memory and Microsoft Windows XP.
As an alternative connectivity option to using the Vodafone network the NC10 comes with wireless networking for when you are at home or the office and is compatible with 802.11 b and g.
The NC10 is also well know for its battery life with 4 to 5 hours being the normal and some people have reported up to 7 hours usage if power saving tricks like using a lower screen brightness are used.

Watchout though if you’re considering getting the NC10 netbook package from Vodafone – it only comes with a 3-cell battery unlike the 6 cell the retail Samsung is packaged with, meaning you will barely get 3 hour’s use unlike the 7+ hours all the reviews rave about and one of the NC10’s strongest selling points.
