It’s almost like losing an old friend by not seeing the little “Beta” disclaimer written next to the Gmail, logo but Google has finally taken the step to migrate to full services.
Google Apps include Google Calendar, Google Docs and Google Talk, and all applications are now to be taken seriously we are told.
The word “Beta” has been removed from all logos, ending a running joke among users that Gmail would never reach an official release. The email service has been in its beta version for 5 years.
Google has reportedly made the move in an attempt to be taken more seriously by the enterprise market.
"We've come to appreciate the beta tag just doesn't fit for large enterprises that aren't keen to run their business on software that sounds like it's still in the trial phase," said Google Enterprise product management director Matthew Glotzbach.
Since its release for businesses two years ago over 1.75 million users around the world have signed on to Google Apps.
If you’re like me though and just can’t use Gmail without the old “Beta” tag, don’t worry. Google has given the option to re-display it from the labs tab under “settings”. Would Microsoft have done that?
