Vodafone Access Gateway Boosts 3G Mobile Signal

If a 3G mobile signal wasn’t a strong selling point when you bought your basement apartment or idyllic rural country cottage, you may be given the chance to actually use your mobile without having to lean half your body out the window whilst waving your phone around in a mad attempt at catching some snippet of signal.accessgateway

Vodafone is set to launch the Vodafone Access Gateway, which can be plugged in to your existing home broadband connection to give you local 3G signal boost.

The box is about the size of a router and can simultaneously support up to four voice calls, so there’s no need to kick the kids off their iPhones when you need to call your mates to gloat over the football results.

The Vodafone Access Gateway can either be bought outright for £160, or it can be rented with fees starting at £5 per month.

Once ordered, you will need to go online and register the mobile numbers you want linked to the Access Gateway. You will also need to allow up to 24 hours for activation.

While this all sounds like an inspired idea from Vodafone, it may be more so for the company than for you, seeing as you’re paying for a signal that Vodafone provide free to all the high-rise city dwellers out there. Still, at least there’s a solution on hand to keep your texting thumbs happy indoors and out.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
