Samsung Jet S8000 Blasts Off: 2 Million Pre-Orders

The handset that’s being billed as being “smarter than a smartphone” is also proving to be more popular than a pop star, with over 2 million pre-orders for the Samsung Jet S8000 already taken.samsung-jet-2-million

This makes the Jet the highest volume pre-order in Samsung’s history, and isn’t a bad figure to wave around after Apple reported 1 million sales of its new iPhone 3G S in its launch weekend.

So what’s all the fuss about? To start with, the Jet is being hailed as the fastest phone currently on the market with its 800MHz processor.

The phone will also come with a 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen, and new TouchWiz 2.0 user interface.

Entertainment-wise 2 million of you can look forward to a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, DNSe & SRS Sound Effect technology, DivX and XviD video.

The Samsung Jet will launch in the next couple of weeks in 50 countries, and it looks like everyone on the high street will be flashing this latest accessory around town.

  • This phone looks great. I plan to take it, but my concern is divx codec. Does it support all divx files? I had bad experience with divx codecs on previous phones, since I had to convert files.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
