Tokyoflash NI wristwatch is confusing but oh so clever

tokyoflash niHey you! Yeah you! Still telling the time using boring old analogue? Unless you’re rocking the steampunk trend you’re now officially so out of date you’re probably not able to read this on the Internet! Even digital is too passe for Tokyoflash!

Ok, so I’m an analogue fan actually. I like being able to look at my wrist and automatically tell what time it is, without even having to convert from 4.43 to almost quarter to five. But if you’re looking for something a little more flashy (and if you’re reading a gadget website then you probably will be) then the stainless steel NI is for you.

Remember barcode watches that got popular for a bit? Well this is a similar in that you have to have a head for puzzles to even begin to answer the question ‘What time is it?’. I’ll let the diagram explain-

ni

Luckily if you’re eyesight isn’t up to working it out on there then the Tokyoflash websitehas a downloadable pdf user manual! It also has a rather funky interactive diagram which breaks it down simply and gives you that penny drop ‘ahh’ moment once you watch it a couple of times!

This is the true evidence of the thought put into the NI’s design though- not only does it all work using fancy coloured LEDs, but you get to chose what colour you want the lights to be (blue, white, red or green)- great for customising your watch to fit your outfit don’t you think? And the NI isn’t quite as chunky as you normally get with these type of high tech watches. The face measures 31mm x 32mm x 8mm and fits up to a 190mm wrist size. Which means it wouldn’t look too out of place on the wrist of either gender. As long as you can read it confidently- doesn’t matter how good it looks when you end up missing your bus trying to work out if it’s 9am or 10am by adding up your little dots.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
