Do you remember back in April when Skyhook’s CEO casually mentioned the existence of the X2 in passing? No? What were you doing!

Being self-confessed geeks we weren’t likely to miss such an occasion, so we thought it only fair that we bring you news of the rumoured newest addition to the Xperia range; the X2 snapped in the flesh for the first time.sex2

The pictures surfaced over at Engadget and purport to show the X2, aka the Vulcan,  and judging from the images this particular Sony Ericsson hasn’t fallen far from the X1’s tree.

If the pictures are on the up-and-up, the X2 will retain the same arc-slider form that we saw on the first X1 and will probably see only minor hardware upgrades, such as camera improvements.

If you look closely at the top left of the keypad you can clearly make out a Windows key, which means that this little puppy should be packing the Redmond goliath’s Windows 6.1 OS when it makes it to retail.

So, is it legit? Is this really the first sighting of the X2 in the flesh, or Sony Ericsson fanboyism at it’s finest? Well, it’s pretty darn similar looking to the X1 so Photoshop trickery isn’t out of the question, but we’ve just got this sneaking suspiscion that this is the real deal being "leaked" to start the mill churning.

Time will tell, stay tuned.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
