Shareaholic: The Firefox Add-on

Author: Ben | Files under Cool Websites, General, Web and Software

Do you know your Twitter from your Tumblr? Your Del.ici.ous from your Digg? Your Ma.gnolia from your Mixx? Ok, ok, i’ll stop now otherwise we could go on like this all day.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years you will probably have noticed the huge explosion in social networking sites and the seemingly unquenchable lust to discover and post every cool or interesting thing that’s come across. They can also provide a useful way with staying in contact with people that you see infrequently, or wished you saw infrequently; or perhaps just for a bit of good old fashioned snooping around to see what your friends are into at the moment.

However, if you use the plethora of social networking sites that are now available one thing is for sure, your browser toolbar can become pretty overloaded with all those individual applications. This is where Shareaholic steps in; it’s a handy little Firefox extension that lets you use your favourite bookmarking and networking sites from one button on the Firefox toolbar. Created by Bzzster, who’s ethos is share, save, discover; this little app provides tools for instant access to more than 21 different sites, including the major players: Facebook, Del.ici.ous, Digg, Stumbleupon, Twitter and Google Bookmarks. For Digg and Del.ici.ous it even tells you how many diggs or how many saves each item has received, directly from the toolbar.

Shareaholic was also the Grand Prize winner of Extend Firefox 2, a Mozilla sponsored contest for the best Firefox addons.

So if you fancy a bit of de-cluttering or just want to check it out head on over to the Mozilla add-ons page here, it might just save you some time as well as space.
