We first had a look at the new Sony BRAVIA Z4500 Motionflow featuring a rather fast 200Hz Motionflow technology at last year’s IFA tradeshow, and were pretty impressed with its clear picture results.
Well Sony have upped the ante at 240Hz and marked the occasion by creating the BRAVIA-drome heralded in the Guinness Book of Records as the World’s Largest Zoetrope. As you do!
If you’re not entirely sure on what a Zoetrope actually is, it’s a device invented in the 19th century to create short 'films' from a series of static images.
There is actually logic to this marketing exercise as the Zoetrope is a novel way to demonstrate the effects of 240Hz. Sony’s zoetrope is 10 meters across and spins at over 40 kph to clearly display fast-action motion pictures.
Sony joined forces with the Fallon London advertising agency and soccer hero Kaka for a make a rather elaborate commercial involving the BRAVIA-Drome.
For all football fans out there, a soccer spot was chosen in the ad for its continuous movement and to fully demonstrate the clarity of Motionflow 240Hz.
Well if you’re going to make a point of how fast your technology is, this is certainly one way to go about it.
